Zinc anode cathodic protection for marine and offshore industry
The zinc anode has a variety of use in marine industry. Its application is limited at the temperature range below 60ºC or when the alkalinity is high. This is due to the polarity reversal occurred to zinc/ iron half cell under the above mentioned conditions. These anodes used for the protection of structures in numerous aqueous environments. Sacrificial anode is a protecting cathode for metal constructions in marine and harbor industries.its properties are in compliance with the requirement of the GB/T 4950-2002.

Medium: arificial sea water, salt water or natural sea water; in soil used moist soil and filled up by back-fill material.

All metals immersed in an electrolyte (for example sea water) produce an electrical voltage. When two unalike metals are in contact (electrically connected) they produce a galvanic cell (like a battery), with the less noble metal (for example a bronze propeller) forming the anode and the more noble metal (stainless steel shaft) forming the cathode. So we call this phenomenon as sacrifice anodes to protect cathode.
